Linda Farrar, RN, LNHA
Linda has dedicated her professional career to providing elders in senior living centers with quality of life and quality of care. Linda received her BSN from The University of Iowa and her post-graduate Licensed Adult Care Home Administrator education from Kansas University. Linda started her senior care career at a large senior living community in Wichita as a unit charge nurse. She then transitioned into the Director of Nursing position at that facility. In the mid-1990s Linda was recruited to a Director of Nursing position in Topeka, so she and her husband moved to northeast Kansas. In 2000, Linda obtained her Nursing Home Administrator’s license and has served in the roles of administrator, Executive Director, Executive Management and Chief Operating Officer. Most recently Linda spearheaded the development of a web-based geriatric medication guide tool for LTC staff to provide improved medication administration and to achieve regulatory compliance. She is a part of the AHCA Quality Network and the Facilitator of the Kansas Dementia Partnership.

Joan Hudson is a Registered Nurse Board Certified in Gerontology and a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator with roots in long-term care and assisted living. Joan worked her way through entry-level positions in the beginning of her career, serving in housekeeping, dietary, C.N.A., and nursing roles including Director of Nursing, then finally as an administrator of a 56-bed community. Joan transitioned to assisted living as a compliance nurse for a large ALF in Topeka where she worked for nearly four years. In December of 2019, she became the Administrator for Interim Home Health and Hospice which currently serves approximately 300 elders from Manhattan to Lawrence, KS. Joan continues her consulting business for state licensed homes as well a serving as the clinical consultant for KCAL. She enjoys sharing her gained knowledge and experience to help others grow in the senior care field.
Steve Hatlestad
Steve has over 46 years experience in operating long term care and assisted living communities with a continued passion of delivering innovative care to our frail elders.
For 20 years he worked for Americare Systems, Inc. a privately held provider of Long Term Care and assisted living communities operating in 4 states with over 3,000 residents and 2800 employees. He was the Vice President of the Skilled Division directly responsible for 25 skilled nursing facilities covering Missouri and Kansas with an operating budget over 5.7 million. He was also responsible for overseeing two regional managers and four nurse consultants. Steve retired from Americare in December 2021 and serves as KHCA’s AIT Program Consultant.
Before that he worked for Life Care Centers of Americare for four years as the Regional Director of Operations. He was responsible for 19 Skilled Nursing Communities in Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri with over 2800 residents and 2400 employees. He also worked for Horizon Health Care and Manor Health Care. Steve will bring to you the experience and the knowledge to guide you through our AIT program.
Judy Bagby, RN, LNHA, RAC-CT
Judy Bagby RN/LNHA is the founder of JA Bagby Consulting LLC, an independent consulting firm specializing in the educational needs of long-term care staff. Judy’s professional experience ranges from patient care to Clinical Quality Improvement and education on the QIS process. She is a certified Resident Assessment Coordinator and is an experienced educator regarding the MDS process. Ms. Bagby extensive experience also includes Restorative Nursing, Infection Control and Wound Assessment.
Ms. Bagby received her bachelor of science in nursing from Avila University and is also a licensed Nursing Home Administrator. Her commitment and passion for this profession is the result of deeply personal family experiences with the health care industry. She is committed to the improvement of health care outcomes through education and the adoption of evidence-based practice for all levels of health care professionals. She is a current member of the American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordinators (AANAC) and has served on the Membership Committee. She has been an AANAC member since 2001. Judy serves on the Education and the Nurse Advisory Committees for the Kansas Health Care Association (KHCA) and is the nurse coordinator for KHCA’s continuing nursing education program.
Ms. Bagby has served on committees with American Health Care Association (AHCA) including the Quality Improvement Committee, the Clinical Standard Committee and as a Future Leader Graduate for the class of 2008. Judy is currently a member of the AHCA Customer Experience Committee and a Silver Quality Award Examiner. She is actively involved with the Kansas Culture Change Coalition and is a stakeholder with the Kansas LANE.
